SmartRecruiters Employee Profile: Kinga Wacławik

“I like new technology better than I like new shoes, and at SmartRecruiters I get to make it,” explains Kinga Waclavik, SmartRecruiters’ front-end developer. Like the saying goes, “choose a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” Kinga knew she loved computers from the moment she first had one at 12 years old.

As front-end developer, Kinga’s job is to implement all the design strategy into functionality. Everytime a SmartRecruiter user clicks a button, Kinga is behind the magic. The finesse and functionality behind, “One-Click Apply” is Kinga.

Kinga decided to work at SmartRecruiters because it was the best interview she ever had. “During my interview they asked how I thought things should be done instead of asking questions about what I could do.” Kinga described her job interviews at other companies as frustrating and exhausting. After interviewing with SmartRecruiters, Kinga said that she had the impression SmartRecruiters was not going to be a place with a hyper corporate hierarchy. “If you have a question, all you have to do is ask. Everyone wants to help, and you don’t have to wait forever for an answer. It’s about collaborating,'” Kinga explains. That’s when she knew, “SmartRecruiters is about doing it, not just talking about it.”

SmartRecruiters is about disrupting in the hiring process, and Kinga plays a key role in achieving these goals. “Basically, my job is to make our product look beautiful in every browser.” With functionality and customer experience in mind Kinga programs and implements everything the customer sees.

Kinga is the only female developer in the office. In many places that could lead to a disconnect or hesitance to be an active voice in decision making processes. But that is not the case for Kinga. “There aren’t a lot of women programmers in general, but I really enjoy working with the guys. And I am very proud of what I do.”

In Kinga’s previous job she says she was held back by office protocol and strict guidelines. SmartRecruiters allows her to collaborate with her team to create a product in our customers vision the best way possible. “I never wanted to show anyone my work before. Since working at SmartRecruiters, I say to everyone ‘look what I do! It’s amazing!”
